Do Not Go Gentle Into HSC English

An idea, a technique, A quote and effect. A half-asleep class In blasé disconnect.

Perceiving the meaning Of the moniker “Moor”, The students believed, Was a bit of a bore.

“Sit up and listen,” Cried the teacher, annoyed, “Else you’ll end up in prison, Or worse – unemployed!”

Astute, little Jimmy, Bravely calling her bluff, Exclaimed, “I do believe, Missy, You’re just making this up!”

Miss wouldn’t weather This affront to her honour, “I’m really quite clever. I’ll bet you a dollar.”

Jimmy did fancy He now had her cornered, “If you’re really so dandy, Try analyse Transformers!”

Not an eyebrow was raised, Just a smile almost wry. For the most part unfazed, She began her reply:

Well, there’s mid-shot, denouement and repoussoir framing, The jump-cut and close-up just go without saying! And let’s not forget that hot Linkin Park score, Syuzhet, plot, context and submerged metaphor!

Jimmy sat stunned, In an unpleasant mood, “You mustn’t do that! Those are lies and untruths!”

With a contented smile, She pulled a book from her shelf, And sat back in her chair, Looking pleased with herself.

Just like old Clint, With his Toscano joint, she said: “Don’t you see, Jimmy? That’s precisely the point.”
